Family

THOMAS. I have kept an annual photo album since Sarah and I were married in 1961, initially sticking prints onto paper which I kept in a file. That gradually changed when digital photography became available at the beginning of the century until eventually my annual album became wholly digital. In 2020 I arranged for all the paper albums to be scanned and the subsequent Covid lockdown provided the ideal opportunity to collect everything together, and then with Angus’ help create this website.

In retirement my father, Clifford (Cliff) wrote the history of the local medical practice after which I persuaded him to write his own family history, both of which are included on the website. At the same time we gathered as many of the old family photographs as we could find, and identified as many individuals as we were able. As an aside, being the oldest child, I used to stay with the Thomas grandparents in Killay in the late1940s & early 1950s and remember many of my great aunts and uncles which my younger siblings do not.

Cardew

Sarah’s old family photos, mostly through the male line, up until the time we were married. Collected and meticulously noted by my father-in-law Jim Cardew who I had also persuaded to write his history.
